Who We Are
Nadja Ouedraogo
President
I grew up in Switzerland, and no matter where life takes me, it will always be the place I call home. It’s where I learned that trains should be on time, chocolate is perfectly acceptable at any hour of the day, and five minutes late is already suspiciously late.
I speak Swiss German, German, and just enough French to get myself through a conversation — or at the very least order something delicious. Cooking and baking have always been a big part of my life, and I love bringing people together around good food, preferably with plenty of bread, cheese, and something sweet involved.
Love eventually brought me to the United States, and along the way I’ve been blessed with two beautiful children who now get to grow up with a little bit of both worlds.
Switzerland will always be a huge part of who I am, and that’s exactly why the Swiss Club means so much to me.
As President, my vision is to build on the wonderful history of our Club while bringing in fresh ideas and new energy. I want us to be a place where longtime members feel at home, newcomers are welcomed with open arms, and the next generation gets excited about being part of our Swiss community. I’d love to see our Club grow, create new traditions alongside the old ones, strengthen our connections throughout North Texas, and simply give people more reasons to come together.
Most of all, I want the Swiss Club to feel like a little piece of home — even if the mountains are missing, the summers are far too hot, and finding a proper Cervelat in Texas remains a challenge. 🇨🇭❤️
Mallory Baureis

A piece of my heart has always been in Switzerland. Both of my parents are from the French-speaking canton of Valais, French was my first language, and I spent every summer there growing up. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of being outside in the mountains—running free, exploring, and discovering the beauty of Swiss nature. My only living grandmother, along with many of my cousins, still live in Switzerland, so it continues to be a place that feels very much like home.
It’s probably where I developed my appreciation for punctuality, a healthy obsession with cheese and chocolate, and, most importantly, a deep love for family, tradition, and community. And in a fun twist of fate, my husband took French throughout high school and college instead of Spanish—a decision that ended up working out pretty well for him!
Now, as a mother of two young children, getting to pass that connection on to them has become even more special. In August 2025, I brought them to Switzerland for the first time, and watching their eyes light up as they explored the mountains and experienced the places I loved as a child was incredibly meaningful. There’s something truly special about watching your children begin to make their own memories in the same place where so many of yours were made.
As Vice President, I’m excited to help preserve our Swiss traditions, create meaningful events, welcome new members, and continue building a vibrant Swiss community for generations to come.

I was born and raised in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. and never imagined that a gap-year job would turn into a lifelong love affair. In 2008, I packed my bags for Zurich to work as an au pair. Somewhere between learning to ski, mastering the art of Swiss punctuality, and caring for a very cute toddler, I met Fabian — and we've now been married for 14 years.
After years of perfecting my German (a work in progress, if we're being honest), I became a Swiss citizen in 2023. My son Charlie is a proud Swiss-American, and being Swiss is a daily part of our lives — right down to the strategic stash of Kägi Fret that I keep on hand for emergencies.
Working in HR operations, I enjoy navigating people and processes as much as spreadsheets. When I’m not at work or at one of Charlie’s soccer games, you'll find me on a yoga mat, in the kitchen cooking up something (hopefully) delicious, or getting outside and moving my body whenever possible. Switzerland taught me that there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes.
Maryland gave me my roots; Switzerland gave me the heart, the husband, and the hiking boots.
Peter Uncovsky
Treasurer
My name is Peter. I was born in Czechoslovakia, but I had the good fortune of growing up in Switzerland (Monthey) Valais a country that has deeply shaped me and to which I remain very attached. I have been living in Texas for nearly 30 years now, long enough to appreciate barbecue… but never quite long enough to forget fondue 🫕 !
I have three children, and I have always made it a priority to pass on to them the pride of their Swiss roots, as well as a love for the mountains, traditions, and values that are dear to me. Each annual visit to Switzerland is a precious moment and also a great opportunity to stock up on specialties!
The return to the United States always has a slight sense of adventure: going through customs with suitcases generously filled with cheese and Ragusa requires a certain level of composure and, let’s be honest, a bit of strategy!
Getting involved with the Swiss Club felt like the obvious next step. I now have the pleasure of serving as treasurer, a fitting role for someone who has plenty of experience handling Swiss “assets « some more edible than others !
